Explorers took the dragons literally and that thought kept from from pushing into new worlds
Centuries ago when mapmakers ran out of the known world before they ran out of paper, they would sketch a dragon at the edge of the scroll.
This was a sign to the explorers that they would be entering unknown territory at their own risk.
Unfortunately, some explorers took this symbol literally and were AFRAID to push on to new worlds.
Other, more adventurous, explorers saw the dragons as a sign of OPPORTUNITY, a door to virgin territory.
Each of us has a mental map of the world in our heads that contains the information we use to guide ourselves in our daily lives.
Like the maps of long ago, our mental maps also have dragons on them.
These represent FEARS that, for whatever reason, we don’t want to do or push beyond.
It could be a fear of:
– public speaking
– going to a party where we don’t know any of the people
– starting a new sport
– changing careers
– ending a not so good relationship
– staring a new business with that idea that’s been in your head forever
– turning off your phone for a day, two, heck a week’s vacation
– speaking up about something that’s bothering you
These dragons prevent us from discovering NEW and AMAZING things.
Remember, just like dragons, fears are…
Fantasied. Experiences. Appearing. Real.
SLAY one of your dragons this week and see what happens.
Your move
